Polkadoodles 'My Hero'

Well happy Friday folks I hope you are all doing okay.  What have you been making since my last post?  I have been a little slow on the creative side this past week.  Operation 'craft room makeover' is still underway.  What with work and wanting to sit and actually colour the packing away of my stash is proving to be a slow process.  I have actually packed up in boxes all my Christmas craft bits as I figured I will have a month or two before I make a start on all the Crimbo madness, so that's something I suppose.

Anyway, I did manage to get finished my DT make for this weeks new Polkadoodles challenge.  The challenge for the DT this week was 'my hero' and the romantic in me thought immediately about the beautiful 'Rose Budd' collection with all those period style backgrounds and images.  I didn't want to just print and colour an image I wanted to make a little scene so I used one of the many background choices and added in a couple of the characters.  Then a light bulb moment happened and thought I wanted to bring it to life a little more.  Yes I could have just coloured them up and it would have been fine but I wanted to add some depth to my card.  So I thought I would do a little 3d decoupage.  I haven't used this technique in such a long time and I admit it can be a little time consuming but so worth it in the end when you see the effect it gives.  I've tried to take a few photos to show you the result.  Sadly I'm no photographer but I hope you get the gist.

Images:  'Miss Millicent' and 'Jeremiah' from the 'Rose Budd' download collection
Background printed onto Ultimate Graphic paper
Medium:  copics

Okay so I'm going to share a few closer shots so hopefully you can see the layers.  I must have printed off at least 7 layers of each image.  I think I may have a go with another image but take process photos and then you can see how I did it.  I'm kicking myself that I didn't think of it when doing this card but it's too late now so I'll have to do it again.

Copics used

Skin:  E41, E51, E53, E33

Hair:  E53, E55, E57, E59 and E42, E43, E44, E47, E49

Okay so that's all from me today peeps.  Don't forget there is a new challenge over at Polkadoodles so still plenty of time to enter and it's always an 'Anything Goes' theme so real easy to enter and fab prizes to be had.

I've managed to grab a day off today so I'm off to sneak in a little crafty time, but first I have to try and fix my printer as it's playing up, so wish me luck.  It may be time for a new one lol.

Take care folks, happy crafting and stay safe.

Winnie in Wonderland

Happy Friday lovely people.  I hope you are all doing okay.  All is good in my neck of the woods.  I am quite excited this weekend as operation 'craft room' is a go.  My room used to be our old kitchen before we moved it so at present it still has part walls of tiles and a couple of old kitchen units so a right mess really but it was mine and I made it work.  Well during lockdown hubster decided it would make a nice project and I'm not one to argue with that.  So this weekend will see me begin to pack everything up into boxes and I will be relocating to the kitchen table for a little while.  Now this is going to drive me insane I know crafting out of boxes and having to clear it all away each day so we can use the table, but I'm keeping my sights on the end goal which will be a lovely clean and tidy room (I say 'tidy' very loosely as I'm not a tidy crafter lol).

Anyway, I digress.  What I actually popped in for was to share with you my Polkadoodles DT make.  As it's Friday there is a new challenge up on the blog here and the team were asked to make something that involved quarters.  Well I've been wanting to play properly with the Winnie in Wonderland kit for a little while as I must say I'm rather taken with it.  I think it's all the rich colours in it.  Anyway, I settled on colouring up Winnie 'Red Queen' and then for the 'quarters' part of my card I printed off a design sheet and cut out four playing cards.  In fact the whole of my card apart from the image has been made from the one design sheet which I think is rather cool myself.

My usual close up of the image next.  I had great fun colouring her in.  Loved doing the hair.

List of copics used

Skin:  E41, E51, E53, E33
Reds:  R20, R22, R24, R27, R29 (with a touch of C5 to darken the shadows)
Greys:  C1, C3, C5, C7, 100
Yellow/Gold:  Y21, Y23, Y26, Y28

Okay, so that is all from me today folks.  Hubby will be home shortly so gotta look lively and make like I've done something else this morning other than craft lol!!!

Happy crafting.  Take care and stay safe.

'Heroes'

Good morning lovely people on this not so nice Friday morning.  Where has the sun gone? I certainly won't be hanging any washing out today and it actually feels a tad thundery so I shall be hiding later too lol!!

Well I hope you are all doing okay in these strange times.  I say strange don't you find that sadly it now feels like the norm to actually keep your distance from everyone I don't really think about it now I just automatically move.  One thing I do know for sure though is I'm certainly missing my 'Costa'.  First on my agenda when they figure out safe opening is a Chai latte or three lol.  I'll be beating down that door with my inky glittery fingers to get me some spicy goodness!!!

Anyway for now I shall have to make do with my home made out of a sachet Kenco latte to keep me sane whilst I craft away on my day off.  Yes this is my shorter week this week so I've been up with the lark and just enjoying the peace whilst the kiddies are still in bed.  So as it's Friday it's new challenge time over at Polkadoodles and I'm sharing with you my DT make.  The DT this week are showing their appreciation for all our heroes as they fight against this dreadful virus and making 'thank you' cards.  However, for all you crafty peeps the theme is, as always, 'anything goes' so nice and easy.  We were also challenged to incorporate more than one image in our make so this is how mine turned out.

Images and sentiment:  Polkadoodles 'Heroes' bundle
printed on to Ultimate Graphic Paper
Ribbon, twine and buttons from stash

This little 'Heroes' bundle is just awesome and is still FREE over in the store.  You have your black and white images to colour but there are also a few pre-coloured ones too.  This is what I used for my card for a change three of the pre-coloured images and I just merged them together.

Okay so that is all from me today.  Don't forget to hop across to the challenge blog here and have a little peek at my teamies makes.  I love how we all have the same theme but how different our makes turn out, so much inspiration to be had.  Whilst you're there why not enter your latest make into our challenge.  You could win a fab prize and you know you don't even have to use a Polkadoodles image to enter.

Take care folks, happy crafting and stay safe.

10 May 2020

and what day of the week is it?!?!

Hello crafty friends how are you all doing.  I appear to have lost a few days this week.  I mean I have not been to work since Wednesday and it has completely thrown me I don't know whether I'm coming or going …. today is Sunday right?!

Well, on Friday I was meant to post my Polkadoodles Challenge dt make for the new challenge this week, but hey in my defence I spent all day Friday thinking it was Thursday so I'm just catching up now lol!! So as normal it is an 'anything goes' theme over on the challenge blog so real easy to enter and we don't have many rules you don't even have to use a Polkadoodles image.

So for my make I used one of the keyworker images from Nikky's 'heroes' set.  Have you seen this set yet?  There's a mix of images to colour up and some are even already coloured if you're short on time or maybe not confident with your colouring and the best bit … it's free … yep F R E E isn't that lovely of Nikky.  Here's what my card turned out like.

Image and sentiment:  Polkadoodles Winnie 'Heroes' bundle
Medium: copics

A little closer view of the image and sentiment.  I decided I would colour her top in to match the rainbow paper.  I didn't trust my judgement so lightly pencilled in some lines first to make sure they were sort of evenly spaced.

I used lots of little rainbow gems as well on the embossed panel under the image.  Took me ages to stick them all on lol.

Okay so that's all from me today.  Take care folks, stay safe and keeping crafting.

Take care.

A little bit of Polkadoodles sunshine

Happy Monday folks.  Just a little pop in from me to spread a little Polkadoodles sunshine.

I have a card to share I've made using the image 'cutest' and some very pretty papers all from the new Polkadoodles Sunshine Delights collection.  Have you seen the collection yet?  Oh my it's adorable.  I love Winnie anyway but these are oh so cute.  Do I have a favourite?  Well I would have said 'happy days' until I coloured up 'shopping bliss' and well now I've just given up trying to choose lol!!  So let me introduce you to 'cutest' and what a very apt name.

Sentiment:  PD Sunshine Delights
Medium:  copics
Papers:  PD Sunshine Delights 'paper pack 2'
printed on to Ultimate Graphic paper
Gems from stash

I love the little butterflies.  These are also in the kit I just resized them in Word and printed them onto some of the patterned paper and added a few sparklies.

Just want to show you a little bit of a closer view of the image.  She's so sweet isn't she.  I took my colour inspiration from the papers.  It's not one I would normally go with but actually I really like it.

Okay, so that's my little contribution to blogland for today.  I have a few more shares to post over the next few days I figured it was better than trying to cram them all into one post.

Well I'm off now to pick up some copics and have a little colouring session whilst my house is not chaotic!

Take care and happy crafting.

Sorry I'm late!

Happy weekend crafty peeps.  It's a nasty one here unfortunately the wind isn't too bad at the minute but it's very soggy and it's only going to get worse this weekend apparently, Yay what joys lol!!!  So I have to venture out to work shortly so I thought I would pop on here and share with you my Polkadoodles Challenge DT card for this week's new challenge.

The design team were tasked with making a 'sorry I'm late' make but for all of you lovely folk it's an 'Anything Goes theme' as normal so no reason not to enter.  Well Winnie in Wonderland is what popped into my head when I heard this so my card has been made using goodies from the big kahuna download kit (links under piccie).

Medium:  copics
Papers:  printed from 'Winnie in Wonderland' onto Ultimate Graphic Paper
Ribbon and pearls from stash

A closer look at my card.  Love this kit so much and can see myself using it so many times.  Santa was extremely kind to me this year and I found a Cricut Explore Air 2 under the tree so I fired that up and cut out the clock face and cogs in black card.  Loving the possibilities with this machine.

A closer looksie at the cutie pie image.  This is 'Time is running out' and she's been coloured up with copics to compliment the papers.

Copics used

Okay that's all from me today folks.  We have an evening of films tonight, first up is my son's choice of Joker.  Not sure it's my cup of tea but we'll see lol.

Take care and happy crafting.

Polkadoodles Odella Heart

Good morning lovely crafty peeps.  Jeez what an end to my week last week everything that could go pear shaped went pear shaped lol.  Add to that my daughter choosing her GSCE options for the next two years and my son sitting A Level mocks, what a flippin week lol!  I'm sincerely hoping this next one is a little easier on us.  So here I am today popping in quickly to share some Polkadoodles love with you.  This is my DT make, albeit a few days late oops!!

So this week the DT were challenged to make something which included a secret surprise.  Well it took me ages to decide on what I wanted to create but eventually settled on an easel card and if you lift up the base it includes a secret little treat box which you can fill with a sweet surprise for someone.

I went with a heart theme seeing as Valentine's isn't far off and coloured up the adorable Odella Heart with copics to compliment the pretty Polkadoodles papers.  I actually used a Polkadoodles heart shaped template to get my shaped card.  There's a few more piccies for this one as it was difficult to try and get a view of everything so I apologise now for the photo heavy post.

Medium:  copics
Heart Template from Polkadoodles Work & Play 9 'Love & Kisses' download kit

A piccie up next of the easel card stood up.

A little side view and if you look carefully you can just make out the box underneath.

If you lift the card base up you reveal the hidden treat box filled with yummy Elizabeth Shaw mints in my case lol.

Last piccie up next I promise!  Here's a closer look at the sweet Odella Heart, just fab isn't she.

Copics used

Okay so that is all from me today.  I'm off to try and catch up with a few things and finish some work for tomorrow, so I'll catch up with you soon folks.

Take care and happy crafting.
