'Best Friends'

Hello crafty peeps and a very happy Friday to you.  I hope you are all well.  We've been enjoying some lovely spring days here and when the sun decides to shine there's some real warmth to it as well.

Anyway, with it being Friday that can only mean there is a new challenge over at Polkadoodles Crafty Challenge and I am popping in to share with you my DT make.  As always it's an 'anything goes' theme so nice and easy.  Now I have a thing for owls I have lots of them dotted all over the house so when I saw 'Octavia Best Friends' there was no way she wasn't making her way to my craft room.  So let me show you my card.

Medium:  copics
Lace, Ribbon, Pearls from stash
Flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts

I've made my usual 6 x 6 size and as I love a good sketch I followed the fab one over at The Sketchy Challenges.  I've taken my colour theme from the extremely pretty Polkadoodles papers.  I didn't have a flower in the right colour so I just picked a white one and coloured it in with my copics to co-ordinate and added lots of Stickles.

My usual close up of the image as well.  I really love her hair and it's the first time I've attempted a different colour from the norm too.

Copics Used
Skin/Body:  E000, E11, E13, R30
Hair:  BV02, BV04, BV08, BV29
Clothes:  RV02, RV06, RV17
Owl:  E31, E35, E37, E29

Okay folks that's all from me for today.  I hope you have a great weekend and make sure you make some time for crafting I know I will be.

Take care.

'Lemonade Fizz' anyone?? - Polkadoodles Craft Challenge

Hello crafty peeps and I hope you are all well.  I've had a few very demanding days.  I won't bore you with all my woes but suffice to say I woke up early part of last week to find out I'd been made redundant and by the end of the week I was self-employed, insured and had a nice little bunch of clients.  Well don't they say when one door closes another one opens so I'll see where this one takes me lol.  I would have been quite content you know to happily craft my days away but alas according to my husband we need to eat and pay some bills so I could keep said crafty stash but hey I tried god damn it!!

So, anyway, today is Friday and you know what that means right? Yep another new crafty challenge has started over at Polkadoodles Craft Challenge.  Well as always it's an 'anything goes' theme but the DT have all made something that is not a card.  I decided to have a play with the 'Lemonade Fizz' download kit.  I love this kit I've used it so much.  It's even got little templates in it for you to make up.  So my 'not a card' make is an exploding box and I'm afraid I'm not the best at photographing these boxes they're not the easiest but I've tried to show you it all.  Grab a cuppa there's a few photos lol.

So first up there's the box closed.  See all those gorgeous papers and toppers they are all in the kit.

I topped the lid off with a gorgeous flower.  These flowers are in the kit too and I just printed them off and layered them.  I think there's about four layers here.  You can't see in the piccie but it's had the Stickles treatment and looks very pretty.

To be a little different I only stuck down 3 edges of the mat on the box lid leaving myself a little slot to pop a tag in to write a message on.

So next up is the box open.  Again I've used papers from the kit to mat and layer.  I made a couple of pockets to slot some tags in with little sentiments on, again from the kit, and then the other two sections I printed off some toppers.  To add some definition I printed them out twice and 3'd the butterflies.

Now the little surprise inside is this adorable little mail box.  It even opens up so you can add a small gift if you wanted and this was made from a template in the kit so it was just a case of printing of the paper you wanted then putting it back in the printer and printing the template on the back and cut and stick it all together and voila the cutest little mail box ever, I love it!

To finish it all off I bent some craft wire as though it was a stem scrambling up the side of the mail box, glued it in a couple of places to hold it in place and then just dotted some leaves and flowers along the stem.  I printed off some butterflies, dragonflies and even a little bee (again all in the kit as embellishments) and layered them up for definition and attached them to strips of acetate and slotted them behind the flowers so it looks like they're sort of flying around.  Again the piccies don't show the effect very well but it is very pretty.

So, if you're still with me after all those piccies, thank you.  I hope you like my little project it was fun to do and really quite simple and not a copic in sight!

Well time for me to go.  Don't forget you can pop across to the challenge blog here and enter for a chance to win a fab Polkadoodles download store voucher and even the 3 DT favourites get a free digi stamp voucher.  You know you don't even have to use Polkadoodles products to enter how fab is that.

Take care folks and happy crafting.
